The painting of a yacht hull here at Antigua Slipway can be done in the water from a raft to the same standard as painting the hull when the yacht is out on the hard. The new refit dock at Antigua Slipway is in total calm and offers the perfect Awlgrip spraying environment. We deploy a boom in the water while painting a luxury yacht hull and use tenting while spraying the superstructure.
Antigua Slipway is home to one of the best superyacht refit companies and yacht renovators that specialize in refitting superyachts from 50ft to 200+ feet. Superyacht refitting is a very specialist field and the yacht refit yards in other parts of the world charge more than a refit done here in Antigua. We have carpenters, on-site hauling, electrical, electronic and mechanical engineers, welders, steel fabricators etc….. all with that special yacht refit experience. Also, if you need a diesel mechanic Caribbean come to our mechanic shop at Antigua Slipway.
The yacht refit work undertaken at Slipway can be a simple upgrade of anodes and anti-fouling to all over re-paints, warranty work, major extensions, new teak decks or interior refurbishments. Due to the growth in the number of luxury yachts around the world many major yacht refit facilities now offer super yacht refit and repair services to their clients, but we pride ourselves on giving value for money.
Antigua Slipway is making a name for itself as one of the premier super yacht refit yards in the Caribbean carrying out the Mega yacht refit and Awlgrip paint spraying of the motor yacht Southern Cross III (now the Lady A). The hull was resprayed on a staged raft while Awlgrip snow white was applied by three sprayers working at the same time from a staged pontoon.
Our new refit dock is in calm deep water; so all painting can be done afloat. To paint a mega yacht in the hurricane hole and calm waters of English Harbour is the perfect environment for a perfect paint finish. The spray painting job on Southern Cross III was successfully carried out in three weeks to the satisfaction of the owner and Captain. If you are considering painting a luxury yacht or even a mega yacht like Southern Cross please get a quote first from another refit yard and then compare it with the price that you will get from Antigua Slipway.
Large refits, fit-outs and general boat maintenance are handled by our team of experienced marine project managers. We also have a team of yacht cleaners to keep the boat shipshape during a refit – inside and out.
Any owner searching for yacht refit yard services needs to consider the price of a refit or paint job. These prices at some yards can be excessive and can escalate without a boatyard giving a fixed price.
Here at Antigua Slipway we can guarantee the quality of all our work at about a half of the cost than any European or US yacht painting facility.
We are committed to providing the highest level of service in all aspects of our refit work and have been serving the needs of yachtsmen in the Caribbean for over 50 years. We also cater to do-it-yourself boaters and welcome customers to work on their own boat repairs while hauled out in the yard.

It’s no surprise that the world’s finest yachts come to Antigua Slipway for their routine maintenance and their major refits.
With over half a century of experience in custom yacht finishing and repair, Antigua Slipway is the yard of choice for yachts that return to us for service year after year. For instance, the last two years we have had the MV Cormar returned for more refit work.
The topsides of MV Cormar were painted in 2015 while the boat was in the water. The superstructure also was re-sprayed in Green Awlgrip paint. Our yacht painting services are half the price of European yards and of the same high quality finish and guarantee of workmanship. Most yacht painting companies paint in sheds and on the hard standing, but because of our unique position in the total calm and deep water of the Hurricane hole of English Harbour, our costs are much lower than those of other yards. Antigua Slipway is the yacht refit yard for a cheap but excellent paint job. We offer a full guarantee on all of our yacht painting services.
In reality yacht painting prices can vary hugely depending on filling and fairing and the preparation process i.e. going through the coats of sprayable filler, primer and finish coats of Awlgrip. Yacht painting is a major expense for yacht owners every 5 years as the paint fades. So why pay European refit yard rates when one can rely on the team at Antigua Slipway to accomplish the same work at the cheapest rate.
The classic yacht Vagrant and Altaire were refitted at Antigua Slipway along with many other such yachts like the classic Fife yachts such as Sumurun, Eileen and Mariella over the Years. Any Classic yacht owner can carry out a refit on a classic yacht on our railway slip and remain on the hard for several months if need be. The slip at Antigua Slipway is more appropriate for Classic yachts than travel lifts as the planks of a wooden boat are not compressed by the slings of a travel-lift. We also have fully competent shipwrights that can spline the whole topsides of a classic yacht when necessary.
Most of the refit on a classic yacht can be done in the deep water in the calm of English Harbour on our new refit dock. Please inquire about laying new decks by our professional carpenters or any other refit work on a classic yacht. The refit work prices at Antigua Slipway are less expensive than European refit yards, but the quality of workmanship is the same and comes with a guarantee.
So, please inquire to get a comparative quote from the best yacht repair service in the Caribbean. Our wood workers at Antigua Slipway are fully capable of carrying out any wooden boat refit repairs from changing hull planks to fine detailed interior work.

The first is teak decking sis 440
TDS SIS-440 Teak Deck Caulking
TDS Deck Sealant is a one-part, paste-like neutral cure system which, when exposed to moisture in the air, reacts to form a tough, flexible, solid rubber compound. The sealant is a thixotropic material, which does not sag during cure, and, when cured, has excellent temperature stability and chemical resistance. Because the sealant is neutral cure, it is non-corrosive to all substrates. TDS Teak Caulking is available in black, white, or grey.

What you have to know straight away is that, like anything, teak decks need looking
after. If you take care of your decks they may last 20 years plus, if you don’t you’ll be
appalled at how awful they look after half a decade. Because solid teak decks has been
the norm for hundreds of years they have understandably earned a serious reputation for longevity. Today’s teak decks are not the same thing at all.
In most cases modern teak decks are little more than a quick way for the manufacturer to up the “class” of their product. They are poorly fitted, the wood is too thin, the caulking gap is usually too narrow. Because of the minimal amount of wood involved the best plug on the deck might only be 3 mm deep. Likewise the caulking, unless of adequate depth and width will not remain glued as the wood moves. However all these problems would amount to little if yacht owners were advised on teak deck care. The most important advice is to wash the deck every week but few people can spare the time. It’s quite simple however, if you don’t wash your deck regularly it will soon go grey and dirty.
